Project Summary:
The High School was founded in September 1983. In the late eighties volunteers from North Carolina, with support of local villagers and students, started the construction of a new building. This building was completed in 1989 with the assistance of the government of Belize. The High School its Rural and attends majority students with low income who really want to study and change their life. The vision is to offer Secondary Education with a bias towards Agriculture. Today, Belize Rural High School caters to all nine villages of the Belize River Valley area and offers subjects in three areas: Business, General and Vocational
Volunteer work:
The activities are divided in the following topics: Conservation, Education and Health.
Location:
The project is located 70 miles from the Airport in the Region called Double Cabbage.
Accommodation and Food:
You will be living at the School. The accommodations are clean and very safe: running water, electricity, showers etc. The local students will be sharing with you all the time, they make an extra effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome in their high school. Food Typical Belizean dishes should be expected (rice, vegetables, see food, meat and fruit.)
Travel Arrangements and Transportation
Booking air travel to your destination is your responsibility, but we are more than happy to help you as needed. For domestic traveling and specific logistics RJI will provide the respective information at the time.

• This project is offer throughout the year.
• Individual or group volunteer (minimum 6)
• Duration: From 1 to 4 weeks.
• Age 18+
General Requirements:
Spanish is desired but not mandatory. The most important requirement its to bring a positive attitude, be willing to get involved in our Central America culture. You must love the outdoors and not mind working in any weather, be easy going and be able to work alongside the local community. Much of your time will be spent with the local families.
